"Cosa Latina opened Global Weekend with a bang. Jorge's dynamic conga solos had the crowd up and dancing from the beginning and cheering for more at the end"

Douglas Noble - Global Weekend Project Manager.

Jorge specialises in Afro-Cuban percussion and spent five years studying in Havana, Cuba, at the Ignacio Cervantes Professional Centre of Music with some of the most celebrated names in Cuban percussion. He has performed with a number of groups in Toronto, Canada, and in numerous venues across Havana. A composer and arranger, he performs regularly with the group Cosa Latina and currently leads educational workshops in schools and community settings. Recent performances include a guest appearance at the Celebrating Sanctuary Festival on the Southbank with the Téa Hodzic Trio.

As part of his educational work, Jorge has been involved in the Music for Change 'Music Performance in Education Mentoring Programme' and his workshops introduce participants to the world of Afro - Cuban rhythm and percussion, and the patterns and layers that form the underlying structure of Cuban music.
