Funded by Awards for All and Community First, we worked in Cliftonville, Margate for 12 weekends, bringing fun and inclusive musical activity to residents. We engaged participants from diverse cultural backgrounds and encouraged people to play music with one another, helping to bring the community together. The project started in July 2013 and ran until October. Excellent Music for Change musicians Kevin Davidson, Lucky Moyo, Téa Hodzic, George Fiawoo and Kenny Mangena worked with participants from the UK, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, and the Roma community to create music and a community spirit in the area.
The success of the project has helped us to secure further funding for other projects in the area, including fun activties and projects for children and a community choir, starting in 2016.
