Porchlight Music Groups

Starting in July 2015, Music for Change delivered a year-long programme of weekly music-making and songwriting groups for Canterbury-based charity, Porchlight.

Porchlight supports people who are homeless, vulnerable, or at risk of becoming homeless. We are delivered a weekly group in Canterbury and one in Dover. Sessions were led by talented Music for Change artists, Lucky Moyo and Emily Watts.

We would like to thank Awards for All England for funding the project.

Music-making has helped everyone involved in so many ways including building confidence and creative expression!

Here's just a glimpse of the great feedback that participants gave:

“I didn’t feel well at first however I started to feel much better when I got into singing the song we’ve been working on.”

“I found that my confidence has improved quite a lot through playing music and singing and getting involved with other people and communicating.”

“I think it is really good for us to lift our spirits.”

“Makes you feel better.”

“I have been feeling pretty depressed and singing helps me a lot.”

“If it wasn’t for the very fantastic wonderful Music for Change I couldn’t have written really great songs and lyrics.”
