Sing Up is a government funded programme which has the ambition to make singing central to young childrens' lives-in primary schools, the home and the wider community. This was launched nationally on November 21st 2007.
Sing Up Communities
The sing up consortium will produce a national programme comprising of a singing resource or 'songbook', a media and schools campaign highlighting the benefits of singing and a workforce development programme to build the confidence and expertise of primary school teachers, musicians and parents in leading and supporting children's' singing activities.
Music for Change are delighted to be running the Sing Up East Kent singing community which involves workshops, performances and training with children, young people and adults in schools and communities in Shepway, Dover, Deal and Ashford. Through this programme we aim to support existing singing groups, choirs and school activities, as well as bring singing to places where it is not already happening. We will work with facilitators from diverse musical and cultural backgrounds who can bring new repertoires, as well as engaging with issues and themes that are of relevance to the communities. We will aim to produce performances in unusual and unexpected places, such as shopping centres, sports grounds and woodlands.
